Living a quality life most definitely begins at home, but that is simply not possible when our building standards have fallen by the wayside and our homes are crumbling around us.
The misconception lies most commonly in the idea that an unhealthy home is an older home – one lacking the innovative materials we see today. Unfortunately this couldn’t be further from the truth. Even some of our newest homes fail to meet internationally recognised standards.
There is a huge demand for change. We believe change starts with collaboration and bringing thought leaders in the industry together. Therefore we partnered with 6 amazing experts and looked at the different aspects of a healthy home including airtightness, insulation, ventilation, moisture control and much more. Together with more than 90 architects, designers and industry individuals, we discussed also the standards we should be setting moving forward.
A big thank you goes out to our fantastic speakers Aaron Robinson from Ecoply, Matthew Cutler-Welsh from Pro Clima, Antoni Rajwer from DuPont, Bhawesh Singh from Stiebel Eltron, David Waters from APL and Brad Stuart from Terra Lana- a pure delight to collaborate with.

What an unforgettable very first NOTION_flo event – full of insightful conversations, provocative questions plus exceptional motivation and passion – the engagement of this NOTION community is so impressive! We thank you all for being part of this very important movement towards a better future.
We ended a great day with some soft tunes from Aro and some funky beats The Auckland City Scroundrels. We’re grateful for everyone who stuck around, enjoyed the evening with us and let the day end with some cold German beer, pretzels and a lot of fun and laughter. With your support we raised $600 for the Victorian CFA. You are amazing humans.
Healthy housing starts from the very beginning, and shouldn’t be something we are adjusting and mending as we go along. With a global focus on environmental sustainability and climate change, it is important that we stay educated to not only avoid pollution and waste as an industry, but also to know that we are choosing materials that will stand the test of time and change. We’re heading in the right direction, but we know we can do more!
What’s next? Save the date for our next notion_flo event Timber. Again, we have an amazing speaker line up from XLam, Abodo Wood and Futurebuild. Our special guest and MC for the day Guy Marriage – Architect at First Light Studio in Wellington and a lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington.
